A word about our prices. As mentioned on this website, we use artificial semination as a means to produce the size and colors of the offspring that we produce. This is an expensive process which involves a specialized reproductive veterinarian, several labs, exams and other fees. We also are a small operation in our home. Our dogs whelp in a bedroom in our home with close supervision the day of delivery and 24 hour care the following two weeks until the puppies have stabilized their temperature. We monitor their weights and other vital signs of the puppies in an effort to catch any problems early. We also check over mom, feed her premium food and supplements to support her pregnancy and nursing through weaning. We also are diligent in keeping the whelping area clean and sanitary for both mom and puppies health. Let’s just say, we wash a TON of laundry with lots of bleach. When mom has weaned the puppies, we start litter training puppies to keep their area as clean as possible. We go thru a ton of pine and paper litter from 3 weeks until puppies go home!! If they stay with us past 9 weeks, we continue their vaccination schedule as well as their potty, kennel and all around training.
Therefore, our fees cover our expenses and not much more. To adopt a puppy from the Humane Society in the Green Bay, WI area, the adoption fee is $350 and they have very little invested into those animals.
